New Honorary CG in San Diego: Ms. Kate Leonard


Ms. Kate Leonard has been appointed as Honorary Consul General of Japan in San Diego by the Government of Japan. This appointment has been duly recognized by the U.S. Department of State, and her duties commence as of July 1, 2012. Ms. Leonard’s office is located at 7676 Hazard Center Drive, Suite 1150, San Diego, CA 92108 which is also the office of Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP. Ms. Leonard received her M.B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1979, and upon obtaining her California CPA license, she moved to Osaka, Japan where she was the only American CPA with Asahi Kaikeisha, Japan’s largest audit corporation. Moving back to the United States in 1985, she continued to interact with the Japanese business community; becoming chair of the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana and maintaining her membership in the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Ms. Leonard has worked with other international organizations including facilitating and participating in Trade Missions to Japan with the World Trade Center San Diego. Currently, Ms. Leonard is a partner of Hutchinson and Bloodgood, LLP, a CPA firm and member of PKF International, an association of independently-owned firms with offices throughout the world including Japan.

Ms. Leonard is married to Richard Forsyth and together they have two daughters.

As Honorary Consul General of Japan in San Diego, Ms. Leonard will succeed Dr. Michael Shigeru Inoue.
